Little Red Shoes

As some of you may (or may not) know, I love red shoes. When I wear them, I feel as if they make me stand out just a little more than usual, and let's face it, red shoes are sexy no matter what style or height they are.

I Love, love love Payless for shoe shopping. They are one of the only stores that consistently carry non-leather (cruelty free) shoes at an affordable price, so I am often there, right around the turn of every season so I know I have something new and fun to wear for the upcoming season.

This past fall, I was out shopping for new winter boots, when I stumbled upon the most stunning pair of red satin shoes...EUREKA! Wedding Shoes! Now, at that point, I hadn't spent even one moment in a wedding dress shop, but there was no doubt in my mind that those sexy, sassy red satin shoes would be on my feet on my wedding day. I snatched them off of the shelf and marched right over to the counter and announced (to the uninterested sales person) that those would be my wedding shoes! And so it will be.

I'm so proud of my little red wedding shoes, however, the response has been somewhat mixed. My mother gasped when I showed them to her, but has warmed up to the idea, (as she has had to do with many aspects of our wedding). I have brought the shoes to every wedding dress appointment, just to make sure that the dress matches my shoes. Yes, I know this is somewhat backwards, but I felt that the shoes really set the tone for the type of dress I was looking for.

Most sales people at wedding shop's "LOOOOVED" them, but I don't put much weight on their opinions, since they are trying to make a sale and would tell me peacock feathers sticking out of my head would be "lovely" if it made me buy a dress from them. But my friends; who are brutally honest, have all applauded the idea of my little red satin shoes, and it is their opinions that I weigh most heavily in this type of matter.

So red shoes it is. And now that I have my elegant ivory, Vivien wedding dress and matching gloves, I know my first impulse was the correct choice. I have even gone back to Payless to get the flat's that go exactly with my wedding shoes for late-night wear. I am all set, and happy as can be!

This morning, I found this on the Thoughtfully Simple website, and thought it was very fitting! It explains the meaning behind certain colors used in your wedding:

The color RED signifies passionate love: Red is the warmest color of all and is the most chosen wedding color for couples (or brides) with outgoing, confident personalities. Be careful not to overuse red or it can come across as garish and tacky. In Asian culture, red is the color of eternal joy and prosperity, and therefore red is a popular color for Chinese brides to wear on their wedding day. In Western culture, red is the color of passion and red roses symbolize passionate love, often making them a preferred choice for table arrangements and bridal bouquets...and shoes! LOL.
